Erin Szekely was born in Kalamazoo Michigan, moved to the Seattle area when she was just a few months old
and has lived there ever since. She attended Blanchet High School in Seattle, and graduated with a
Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of Washington. She is married to Steven and has three
sons, Todd, Paul and Sam. Erin has been involved in sports all her life playing baseball, basketball,
and volleyball. She snow skis, and is a certified scuba diver.
After her children were in school, she discovered golf and it has become a passion and a profession.
As an amateur, she was a six time club champion at Snohomish Golf Course and was the Snohomish County
Champion. She was 1st alternate in the United States Public Links Championship in 1995.
Erin turned pro in 1996 and became a member of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional division She taught
at Willows Run Golf Course in Redmond WA from 1996 to 1999, and has been teaching at Carnation Golf Course
since then. She teaches men, women and juniors, and is involved with the junior program at Carnation Golf
Course that accomodates up to 250 juniors on any given summer Monday.
Erin coached the girls golf team at Inglemoor High School in 1998 and was the coordinator for the Crayola
Crayon Junior Golf clinics held at the LPGA's Safeco Classic at Meridian Valley.
She is the founder and Tournament Director for the Thriftway Washington State Women's Open, which has
raised over $150.000 for the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
She is featured in Manuel de la Torre's instructional video, "Understanding the Golf Swing."
She currrently plays competitively on a professional mini-tour on the west coast, as well as nationally
with the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional division. She won the senior division title in the 2003
Colorado Women's Open, and had a seventh place finish in the Senior division in the Nevada Women's Open in
January of 2004. She had several top ten finishes on the US Challenge Tour, and was a member of the Players
West mini tour. She is also a current member of the LPGA Women's Senior Golf Tour.
